Manufactured in 1887. The rifle has a blade front sight, an adjustable buckhorn rear sight, tang peep sight and a button magazine. The top barrel flat is stamped with the two line address ahead of the rear sight and the caliber marking "40-82 W.C.F." at the breech. The lower tang has the two line patent dates marking and the serial number. The rifle has a set trigger. The nicely figured checkered pistol grip stock has a steel end cap and shotgun buttplate.

About good. The rifle has a smooth gray patina with the barrel retaining traces of original blue finish in the protected areas, the bolt retaining 20% original blue finish and the receiver, lever and hammer retaining traces of original case colors in the protected areas. There is some scattered minor pitting with an area of pitting on the barrel towards the muzzle. The refinished wood is good with a few minor handling marks. The crudely recut checkering is sharp overall. Mechanically fine.
