This example was manufactured in 1896. The rifle has German silver blade front and adjustable sporting rear sights. The barrel is stamped with the two line address marking on the top flat ahead of the rear sight and the upper left flat is stamped "38 W.C.F." at the breech. The Winchester factory proof is stamped on top of the barrel and receiver at the breech. The upper tang has the three line model/patent information and underside of the receiver has the serial number. Smooth forearm and straight grip stock with steel end cap and crescent buttplate.

Fine as factory refinished/rebarreled and partially touched up. The rifle retains 80% blue finish with the balance an artificial smooth brown patina. The lever and buttplate retain 30% original case colors. The wood is fine with a number of tiny filled holes (possibly from removed tacks) on the buttstock and some minor handling marks. Mechanically needs work as the hammer drops to half cock after cycling lever.
