Description:

The saber has a 35 7/8 inch curved single fuller blade. The blade has an acid etched dry needle engraved floral sprays and military trophies on both sides. The back of the blade is etched with floral design. "HORSTMANN/& SONS" is stamped on the reverse side, "PHILADELPHIA" on the obverse. The Horstmann address is etched on the obverse side. The saber has a brass hilt with cast decorations on the down-turned quillion and knucklebow. The grip is cast brass painted black. The saber has an enlisted pattern, un-decorated iron scabbard.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The blade is in excellent condition and retains all the etched background. The hilt is in very good condition with an attractive patina, about 50% of the black paint is present in the grip. The scabbard is very good, bright overall with brown spotting and some minor scratches and dents.
