Description:

The sword has a regulation style M1860 foot officer's 30 3/4 inch double fuller blade, etched patriotic and martial designs on both sides. The blade has a Solinger Weyersburg proof stamp on the left ricasso, "IRON PROOF" on the spine and the etched Horstmann Philadelphia address on the obverse ricasso. The non-regulation, cast brass artillery pattern hilt has cast floral designs on the knuckleguard. The cast brass grip has a simulated rayskin pattern and is painted black. The iron scabbard has a nickel-plated finish.

Rating Definition:

Good. The blad is near excellent with sharp etching. The brass has a dark patina, with bright spots on the high points of the grip section. The scabbard is good, with a brown patina overall, scattered spotting, and mild handling marks.
