Description:

The saber has a 35 3/4 inch double fuller flat back blade. The blade is stamped "US/NWP" on the obverse ricasso and "N.P.AMES/CABOTVILLE/1846" on the reverse. The two branch brass hilt has a Phrygian helmet pommel and leather covered grip with twisted brass wire wrap. The ordnance inspection marks "WAT" and "NWP" are stamped on the top of the pommel. The regulation iron scabbard is stamped "A/D/K" on the drag.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The blade is bright. The hilt has an attractive patina. The leather grip cover and wire wrap are in very good condition. The scabbard has an attractive, deep brown patina.
