Barrel: 7 inch octagon
Finish: blue
Grip: walnut

Item Views: 2478

Description:

Pin front and notch rear sights, with the three-line Savage & North markings on the topstrap. The smooth grip panels show no cartouches. The barrel is numbered to the gun. Of the 2,000 Savage-North revolvers made, the majority were consumed by government contracts. Notes from the consignor attribute the revolver to the U.S.S. St. Lawrence, one of the vessels involved with the Battle of Hampton Roads, where the Merrimack (aka Virginia) and Monitor clashed in the first ironclad vs ironclad contest in naval history. We can not verify this information. However, the Armory Sub-Insepector M. Moulton's acceptance mark ("M") is stamped on the left side of the back strap under the grip panel and on the bottom barrel flat under the loading lever.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with 30% plus of the original bright blue finish, with the balance showing areas of brown and gray patina, mild edge wear and scattered handling marks. Grips are also fine, with light dents and a few small chips. Mechanically excellent.
