Description:

Manufactured between 1863 and 1865, approximately 25,000 Model 1863 revolvers were purchased by the U.S. Government. The left side of the frame is marked with the one line address and the right side has the one line patent date. The inspector letter "M" is marked on most major components. The matching serial number is marked on the front of the frame, bottom of the barrel, on the cylinder and in the hammer cut out. Dovetailed blade front and hammer notch rear sights, blue finish with casehardened hammer and loading lever, and fitted with a smooth one-piece walnut grip with a visible cartouche on the lower right side.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The revolver retains 40% original blue finish with a smooth gray and brown patina on the balance. The loading lever and hammer have a smooth mottled gray patina. The grip is good with a crude period "AB" initials carved into the bottom, some lower edge wear and small chips on the bottom edges and a few minor dents. The markings remain sharp. The action is fine.
