Description:

Measuring 3 1/4 inches tall and 2 1/8 inches wide, this is an early capping device for Colt's Paterson Revolver. Fitted with a hinged lid, which is marked "Colt's Patent >>o<< Patent Arms Man'g. Co. Paterson, N. Jersey", which opens to reveal the spiral cap track inside the body and the matching markings "No 76" and "54" on both body and lid. A small, ball shaped lanyard hanger is present on the hinge.

Rating Definition:

Poor, with a mixed aged patina overall, showing a few areas of original silver finish and mild pitting. The cap retention spring is partially absent, with heavy pitting on the spring and on the underside of the body. A thin crack is visible on the underside of the frame. A chance to own a rare Patent Arms Manufacturing Company Paterson Capper.
