This Colt Model 1851 Navy revolver was manufactured in 1867. This late Fourth Model Navy revolver has the Colt commercial blue finish on the barrel and cylinder, case-hardened loading lever, frame and hammer, silver-plated brass back strap and trigger guard and one-piece ivory grip. The revolver has the Fourth Model large rounded brass trigger guard, thick loading lever catch, capping channel in the recoil shield cut-out, beveled loading cut-out in the barrel lug and bordered, underlined knurling of the hammer spur. The top barrel flat is roll-stamped "-ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-". The left side of the frame is stamped "COLTS/PATENT" in two lines and "36 CAL" is stamped on the left shoulder of the trigger guard. The cylinder is roll-engraved with the Texas Navy battle scene and "COLTS PATENT No". "ENGAGED 16 MAY 1843" is stamped in small letters along the forward edge of the cylinder. The full serial number "199459" is stamped on the bottom of the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard and back strap. The partial serial number "9459" is stamped on the cylinder. The loading lever is correctly not serial numbered.
