Description:

Manufactured in 1862 with a three screw frame, late style New York address barrel marking, "COLTS/PATENT" marking on the left side of the frame and Texas-Mexico Naval scene on the cylinder. The recoil shields and butt are cut for a shoulder stock. There is a "B" stamped on the left side of the barrel over the wedge screw, an "O" stamped on the right side of the barrel and on the rebated portion of the cylinder and an "S" on the bottom of the barrel. Has all matching numbers and is fitted with a smooth walnut grip with "Lillie" incised on the bottom left of the butt and a faint boxed cartouche on the right side of the grip. With a letter from Colt dated October 3, 1930 that talks about Major Lillie also known as Pawnee Bill. One will have to draw their own conclusion about the aforementioned butt marking and letter!

Rating Definition:

Good with mostly a brown patina with some scattered minor dings. The cylinder retains traces of the Naval battle scene. The casehardened components have a brown/gray patina. There is some scattered pitting. The front strap has an attractive aged patina. The grip is also good with scattered dings and scratches. Mechanically fine.
