Manufactured in 1893. This scarce deluxe version of the small frame Lightning rifle is equipped with a blade front sight and notch rear sights. The barrel is marked COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG.CO HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A./PATENTED MAY 29, SEPT. 18, 83, MAY 26, 85, JUNE 15, 86, FEB. 22, 87" on the top flat ahead of the rear sight and "22 Cal." on the upper left flat at the breech. The Rampant Colt is stamped on the left side of the frame. The lower tang has the serial number along with the registration number "A628". British proofs are stamped on the frame and lower left barrel flat. Nicely figured multi-point checkered forearm and pistol grip stock with a hard rubber factory buttplate.

Very good as refinished. The rifle is mostly an artificial smooth mottled brown patina overall. There is some pin point pitting. The refinished wood is fine some small putty filled repairs near the upper tang and a few scattered minor handling marks. There are a few blemishes in the overall crisp checkering. Mechanically fine.
