Description:

This is an example of an Engraved Marlin Model 24 action only. These shotguns were manufactured between 1908 and 1917. The left side is engraved with four ducks taking flight from a marsh inside an oval with floral scroll flourishes around the outside edge. The right side of the receiver shows floral scroll engraving with two pigeons in flight engraved on the bolt. There is a floral design engraved around the serial number on the bottom. The top tang is roll stamped "Marlin MODEL No 24." The consignor's notes indicate the engraving was performed by Ulrich.

Rating Definition:

Very good, 60% of the original blue finish remains with a brown/gray patina on the balance. There are some scratches on the left and right side of the receiver ring, and a few minor scratches on the left and right side of the receiver. There are a few small dings on the upper tang. The engraving remains sharp.
