Description:

This is a very good example of a early G41 rifle as produced by the Berlin-Lubecker company. These rifles were produced early on in the production cycle of the G41/G43 series of semi-automatic rifles, before all production switched to the G43 series of rifles. The left side of the receiver is marked with the large "G41 duv 43, Eagle / 214" followed by the serial number "873b". The stock is the correct wartime laminated model that is marked on the right side with a double Eagle 214 Waffenamt proof and a single "Eagle 214" Waffenamt proof in the pistol grip area. This rifle has the standard blade front sight with the tangent rear sight, with the rear sight base machined for scope rails. The rifle is equipped with the brown phenolic resin (plastic) handguard as manufactured in 1941/42 and is complete with an original WWII German K98 type, cross-hatched leather sling that has a single makers mark "ja" on the back side of the leather buckle, the original cleaning rod and sheet metal front sight cover. These early G41 series of rifles were produced for only a couple of years and used the "Bang Gas-Trap" system to cycle the action and featured mostly all machined and finely blued parts. Both features were time consuming and costly to manufacture and were the main reasons why the German Armaments Ministry developed the G/K43 series of rifles as they were far more reliable and easier to produce.

Rating Definition:

Fine as assembled (bolt assembly numbered 8469 as well as cover and carrier) with 70% of the original wartime blued finish, with even honest wear overall with a significant amount of light pitting on the sides of the box magazine. The stock and hand guard are very fine showing their original finish with minor handling marks and light pressure dents overall. The rifle sling is near excellent with a nice brown color and still pliable. The rifle has several mismatched parts. Mechanically excellent.
