This is a WWI era Model 1896 commercial Mauser Broomhandle pistol that is complete with the original matching wooden shoulder stock. The chamber area and right side of the frame are marked with the standard Mauser factory address and the left side of the chamber area and rear top area of the breech bolt is marked with a Crown "U". A small letter "M" Mauser proof on the underside of the barrel and standard fixed front sight, with the adjustable rear sight graduated from 50 to 1000 meters and later "NS" marked hammer. 32 groove grip panels, a lanyard loop stud on the bottom of the butt. As noted, it is complete with an original matching wooden shoulder stock/holster that is numbered "038" on top of the attaching iron.

Very fine overall with 85% of the original blue finish overall with wear on the edges and high spots, with blue loss on the frame rails, grip straps and lower edges of the magazine well/floor plate. The grips are fine with a nice dark color on both sides with minimal handling marks. The walnut stock is with a nice even matching dark brown color overall, with two large age cracks on the underside of the stock, that start at the lid and go forward towards the attaching iron. The attaching iron retains hints of the blue finish with the hinge retaining 80% of the nitre blue finish overall. As noted this pistol has all matching numbers to include the original attaching iron.
