Description:

This is a fine example of an WWI Model 1911 pistol as manufactured by Springfield Armory in 1915 and subsequently professionally restored. The left side of the slide is marked in two blocks with "PATENTED APR.20,1897/SEPT.9, 1902. DEC.19,1905.FEB.14, 1911/COLT'S PT. F.A.MFG.CO", followed by "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY/U.S.A.". The left front side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", with the Ordnance Corps/Shell and Flame insignia stamped above the magazine release. The right side of the slide has the traditional "American Eagle/Shield" behind the ejection port, with "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY." towards the of the slide. The right side of the frame is marked with only the serial number "No 114944". It is fitted with a correct Springfield Armory barrel marked with a letter "S and P" on the left side of the barrel lug and it has the standard fixed sights, smooth trigger, checkered slide stop also marked with a letter "S", early 1914 pattern checkered thumb safety, wide, checkered hammer spur, and flat main spring housing with the lanyard loop on the heel. This pistol is complete with a correct Springfield Armory magazine that has the distinctive folded bottom.

Rating Definition:

Fine as professionally restored with clear sharp markings with nice sharp edges. The grips are new/current replacement that match the original pattern correctly and which have nice sharp checkering overall. A fine example of a desirable early WWI Springfield Armory Model 1911 pistol.
