Description:

This is an example of an early Model 1941 Johnson Semi-Automatic Rifle that could have been used during WWII. This rifle squared off against the M1 Garand for adoption by the U.S. Army. The Army never officially adopted the rifle, and after the fall of the Dutch East Indies to Japan in 1942, some of the Dutch contract rifles were obtained by the Marine Corps and issued to the Marine Parachute and Raider Battalions for use in the South Pacific island hopping campaign in 1943. The rear sight is marked "M2" on the left side and "METERS 0-1000" on the right. There are unique features about this design, the barrel is removable for easy storage in a jump bag and the second being the ten round rotary magazine which could be loaded with single rounds. The receiver is marked on the top with the five line patent dates followed by "JOHNSON AUTOMATICS/MODEL OF 1941", address and serial number "0383" with an encircled five point star over "CRANSTON/ARMS/CO." in a triangle on the right side. The barrel flange is marked ".30-06" at the top above the barrel and "41" at the bottom below it. With a bayonet marked "68" on the underside, a leather sheath and a leather claw sling.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as arsenal refurbished, 90% of the parkerized finish remains with some scattered minor scratches and high edge wear. The stock is very good with an arsenal repair on right side of buttstock, rear of magazine, scattered minor scratches, minor dings and some moderate dings. The bayonet and sheath are very good. The sling is very good with scratches and scuffs.
