Description:

Packed in a hardwood crate, this kit was designed for issue to Engineering units, in order to prepare men for the task of dealing with Japanese ordnance in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. This particular kit is dated 1949; though hostilities were well over, unexploded ordnance was a real and present danger on any island claimed by the Japanese Empire, and the skills to dispose of them still in demand. Included with the kit are inert copies of the Type 93, magnetic, and "Yardstick" anti-tank mines, Type 3 non-magnetic mine, and the Type 97 hand grenade, along with appropriate inert fuze assemblies and three copies of Technical Bulletin ENG 79, dated June 1945. On the front of the case is the red Corps of Engineers logo, with nomenclature on the lid and a shipping label from the Atlanta General Depot in Georgia.

Rating Definition:

The mines are all in very fine to excellent condition, with mild handling marks, and some staining on the cover of the magnetic mine. Case is good, with mild stains and wear.
