Description:

This is an example of a very late WWII production k98 rifle, as manufactured at the BRNO factory while under control by the Germans. The top of the receiver is marked "dot/44", the wartime code for the BRNO factory in Czechoslovakia and 44 for the year of manufacture. The top of the barrel and front receiver ring both are stamped with the single "Eagle 63" Waffenamt proof with both correctly stamped with a single "Eagle firing proof". The receiver side wall has the block "MOD 98" marking. The stock and handguard are the correct late war solid laminated versions with takedown washer in the buttstock, a single "H" proof below the stock washer and the serial number on the underside of the stock. This example has the late war stamped barrels bands, trigger guard and floor plate, all numbered to the rifle and the trigger guard and floor plate each have a single "Eagle/214" Waffenamt proof. This rifle is complete with the original cleaning rod, front sight cover and leather sling.

Rating Definition:

Very good as partially refinished (rear sigh base, bolt, trigger guard and barrel bands) with 70% of the original blue finish on balance with wear on the edges and high spots, with some thinning on the exposed metal of the trigger guard and floor plate. The stock and hand guard are both very good overall with light handling marks and pressure dents from use and both have a nice matching color. The proofs are clear and visible.
