Description:

Manufactured in early 1942. The right side of the frame is stamped "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" over the serial number roll-stamped in two lines behind the slide stop hole. "M1911A1 U.S.ARMY" is roll stamped in front of the slide stop hole. The left side of the frame has the final U.S. Army Ordnance inspection mark "W.B." in a box below the slide stop and a "P" proof mark is stamped behind the magazine release. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the Colt 1897-1913 patent dates in a two-line block, the Rampant Colt trademark and "COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." in two lines. The barrel is blued and stamped "COLT 45 AUTO" on the lower left side of the chamber and "P" on the left side of the barrel lug, along with a small "G" in front of the lug. The trigger is milled with a checkered face. The slide stop and thumb safety lock are checkered, the main spring housing is arched coarse checkered and it is fitted with the checkered wide spur hammer. The grips are the hollow back variation with mold numbers and small reinforcing rings around the screws. The slide has the matching serial number stamped under the firing pin retainer. The top of the slide is stamped with a "P" proof mark between the rear sight and the ejection port. The feed ramp is not parkerized and it is complete with one blued magazine marked "R" on top of the base lip.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% plus, slightly thin finish showing some very minor edge wear with spots of blended touch up restoration overall. The grips are very fine showing some handling marks with sharp pronounced checkering.
