Description:

Manufactured in 1944. Fixed sights and standard external markings, with a pair of clear plastic grips, each with a photograph underneath; a lady on the right, and two ladies on the left. With a brown leather flap holster and a copy of a notarized letter from Floyd C. Meseke, a former soldier of the 41st Mechanized Cavalry, 11th Armored Division. According to the letter, this pistol was acquired by Meseke in the field during the 11th's deployment in Europe, the grip panels were produced in-field from windshield material scavenged from a downed B-17 Flying Fortress, and the ladies pictured are his wife and aunt. The 11th arrived in Europe in 1944, participating in the Battle of the Bulge and the final drive to link up with the Soviet Army.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 80% of the original parkerized finish, showing bright wear along the edges, scattered spotting and mild handling marks overall. The grips are fine as custom handmade replacements, with a few minor scratches, and signs of moisture exposure on the pictures below. The holster is fair, having been modified for use with a conventional belt, and showing mild scuffs and cracks. Mechanically excellent.
