Manufactured in 1893, this High Wall rifle features a 30 inch #2 octagon barrel with a windage adjustable globe front sight, filler block in the rear sight dovetail slot and a mid-range Vernier tang mounted peep sight. The top barrel flat is marked with the standard two line address ahead of the rear sight slot and "38-55" at the breech. The bottom of the barrel in front of the forearm is marked "2" and the lower tang is marked with the patent date behind the trigger and the serial number behind the lever. The barrel is blue and the receiver and lever casehardened. Mounted with deluxe nicely figured checkered walnut Schnabel forearm with an ebony forend insert and round knob pistol grip stock with nickel plated Swiss buttplate. The accompanying factory letter verifies the rifle configuration, caliber, 30 inch octagon #2 barrel, plain trigger, checkered pistol grip stock with Swiss buttplate and that it was received and shipped out of the warehouse on order number 13122, January 17, 1893.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains an 80% mix of thin original blue finish and smooth plum patina. The receiver retains 30% original muted case colors with a smooth mottled gray patina on the balance. The lever has a smooth mottled dark gray patina. The wood is also very fine with 98% original varnish remaining and showing a 3 inch scratch on the right side of the stock, and overall some scattered minor dings and handling marks, with crisp checkering. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
