Manufactured in 1878 and subsequently custom engraved (in the mid-20th century) with western cattle brands on a punch-dot background, gold-plated and fitted with smooth ivory grips. The engraving is done much in the style of Agee, Harris and Bledsoe and is well executed with 90% of the revolver covered. The most notable brand is the "XIT" on the right side of the frame. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address, "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" in a panel on the left side and the three line, three patent dates on the left side of the frame. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame and trigger guard. The back strap is mis-matched. Gold finished with a blue hammer and fitted with smooth two piece ivory grips. Comes in a wooden case with purple velvet lining, a cleaning brush and 10 rounds of UMC 44-40 Win ammunition.

Fine as custom embellished with 80% gold finish remaining with the majority of the finish loss on the trigger guard and front strap, and there is some high edge wear. The hammer retains 99% blue finish. The grips are bit undersized and remaining very good with a few minor age cracks, and a pleasant grain and color. The patent date marking is partially absent, otherwise the markings are clear. The engraving is crisp. The case is very good with a few minor dings and some minor contact wear on the lining.
