This is a very nice example of a rare William Beckwith Fowling piece. There is a blade front sight on the smooth concaved rib marked with gold inlay, "- - - BECKWITH * LONDON - - -". There are a thin gold wire band along the top front of the breech plug and a wider band at the rear. The barrel tang is decorated with floral scroll designs, the trigger guard has a deer and floral designs, and the locks and hammers have light engraving. The locks are marked with a gold recessed "BECKWITH" hallmark. Brown Damascus barrels, bright locks, hammers and frizzens, and blue grip extended trigger guard, lower tang and large decorative engraved pineapple finial. Mounted with a nicely figured deluxe walnut straight grip half stock with checkered wrist and steel buttplate with floral engraved screw head and game scene on the tang. The barrels choke at improved modified/improved modified and the length of pull is 14 inches.

Very fine. The barrels retain 90% period refurbished brown finish showing all of the Damascus pattern. The buttplate retain 75% original bright blue finish with areas of smooth gray and brown patina. The trigger guard and lower tang retain 98% original blue finish. The remaining parts remain bright. All of the gold inlay remains. The reoiled stock is very fine with a few minor dings and handling marks, and crisp checkering. The action is excellent.
