Description:

Blade front and "R" marked Buffington rear sights, with the rear of the barrel marked "A" on top and "V/P/eagle head/P" on the upper left. Low-arch breechblock, marked "US/MODEL/1884", with the eagle/shield motif next to "U.S./SPRINGFIELD" on the lock plate. Smooth straight grip stock, with two "U" marked barrel bands, "SWP/1887" on the left side, and a "US" marked buttplate. With cleaning rod.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, near excellent with 90% plus of the original blue finish, showing areas of brown patina and scattered mild handling marks. Bright and vivid case colors are present on the breechblock with the edges turning grey. Stock is excellent, with some dents and scuffs. Mechanically excellent. Appears to be as issued but with storage marks.
