This is an excellent example of a desirable mid-WWII Commercial contract Mauser Banner P.08 Luger pistol. These Lugers were manufactured right up to the end of production just like the commercial K98 rifles and generally fall into 2-3 different types, standard commercial Luger, intended for sales within Germany sudo-military or police contract Lugers and commercial contracts for sales to other European countries such as Sweden, Portugal, etc. They usually exhibit excellent workmanship with a high quality all salt blue finish and in this case have the wartime black checkered plastic grips. The chamber is stamped "42" for 1942 (the last year the Luger pistol was manufactured) and the Mauser Banner trademark is stamped on the front toggle. This Luger is somewhat unusual in that it does not have any proof marks at all, so it may have been a late war assembly. The pistol is numbered in the military fashion with the full serial number (9238w) stamped only on the front of the frame with no number on the barrel or barrel extension. The last two digits of the serial number (38) are stamped on various small parts. It is complete with one, all blued, FXO proofed magazine with the pinned plastic base.

Excellent with 98% of the blue wartime finish remaining overall, with blue loss on the high spots. The grips are excellent overall with only minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
