Description:

Manufactured by DWM originally in 1915 and was subsequently remarked/reworked in accordance with the Treaty of Versailles in 1920 and subsequently reissued and remarked on the rear grip strap. The chamber is stamped "1920/1915" and the DWM monogram on the front toggle. Retains all the various standard WWI German Army "Crown/Gothic" letter inspection and firing proofs. Fixed front sight with the original artillery tangent rear sight marked 1-8 (100-800 meters) with the fine tune adjustment on both sights. Correctly marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" in the safety area and on the extractor. When it was reissued to the Weimar Imperial Navy the rear grip strap was engraved with the early "Imperial Eagle/M/1558/N", indicating issue to the North Sea fleet. Wooden base nickel WWI magazine that was remarked when it was issued by the Imperial Navy with "N/1558/7653/Eagle/M". With an unmarked commercially made brown leather holster, the exact type that was issued in the post WWI/Weimar era specifically intended to be worn on a belt with thick leather holster belt loops on the back side with a spare magazine pouch on the front.

Rating Definition:

Fine as arsenal refurbished with 70% of the faded, thin arsenal blue finish remaining overall with blue loss on the edges and high spots and grip straps. The various small parts retain 20% straw colors overall. The walnut grips are very fine with nice distinct checkering with minor handling marks. The holster is also fine with nice smooth leather surface overall with tight stitching, showing some heavy leather wrinkling/wear on the flap.
