Description:

These Lugers are still a scarce variation and made even rarer in that it has the original Chinese marked back strap. Almost all of these early Navy Lugers were reworked or destroyed under the Treaty of Versailles. This example had the safety area altered to the second pattern (upper) marked safety with no chamber date and was issued to the German Navy Garrison stationed at the German Colony in Kiaochow China. The rear grip strap is engraved "GOUV.KIAU.7", indicating this was the 7th pistol issued to the German Government Colony. The Chinese were eventually invaded by the Japanese in 1914 with this specific Garrison being heavily sieged for several months, which eventually capitulated in late 1914. The left barrel extension has the double "Crown/M" proofmarks with the smaller Imperial "Crown" firing proof that is repeated again on the left barrel side. The frame and barrel underside are correctly numbered with the full serial number and the last two digits of the serial number on various small parts. With matching nickel plated wood base magazine.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 95% of the arsenal refurbished blue finish with minor edge wear. The various small parts retain 60% of their straw colors overall. The grips are also very fine with original checkering mixed, minor handling marks and light pressure dents on the left side. Matching numbers to include the magazine. This is a rare 1906 Navy Luger with the Chinese/German Garrison markings as few of these survived.
