This is an example of a late war "ar" code K98 rifle manufactured by Mauser-Werke, A.-G., Werk Borsigwalde, Berlin-Borsigwalde, Eichborndamn. The top of the receiver ring is marked "eagle/135/ar/44", the right side is marked with two eagle proofs and the left side is marked with a Nazi firing proof. The breech end of the barrel is marked with a Nazi firing proof followed by the serial number, the top is marked with a shield followed by "44 D 65" and the right side directly behind the handguard is marked with an "eagle/135" proof. The left side wall is marked "Mod. 98". Blade front sight and tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters. The front barrel band and floor plate are milled and the rear barrel band and trigger guard are stamped. The rifle is mounted with a laminated stock and handguard with a cupped buttplate and "dot" stamped on the bottom.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as partially restored (forward band is refinished, renumbered to match), with 90% of the original blue finish on the balance, showing a plum patina on the extractor claw, a few areas of brown patina, and scattered handling marks. The cleaning rod is absent and the buttplate is numbered "3201", with a gray patina overall and brown spotting. Stock is very good, unnumbered, with mild dents and handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
