This is a beautiful example of a custom Mauser Argentine Model 1909 rifle done by Wilkins & Company in Birmingham, England. The barrel is fitted with a large ramp blade front sight and a four leaf express rear sight with one standing leaf and three folding leafs with gold sighting lines and marked "100 YDS" on the standing leaf, and "200 YDS", "300 YDS" and "400 YDS" on the folding leafs. Ahead of the rear sight is marked "J. & L. WILKINS & CO BIRMINGHAM ENGLAND" and "REGULATED FOR RWS AMMUNITION/401 GRAIN METAL COVERED BULLET" behind the rear sight. The right rear of the barrel is marked with a "CROWN/BNP" followed by "404 2-87 4160 BAR" and a Birmingham proof. There is a sling eye mounted on the underside of the barrel. The action is casehardened and has floral vine engraving on the rear and top of the left side wall. The top of the chamber is engraved "JEFFERYS/404/NITRO/EXPRESS" and the right side is marked with the serial number followed by an unrecognizable proof and a "crown/BNP" proof. The left side of the receiver has the standard Mauser Model 1909 Argentine marking and the left side wall has the two line Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken, Berlin marking. The safety lever is marked "READY" and "SAFE" in gold and there is a peep sight mounted on the back of the bolt firing pin. The bolt handle and trigger guard are casehardened and the bottom of the trigger guard has the number "40402" in gold on it. The hinged floor plate is also casehardened and engraved with a floral vine design. The rifle is mounted with an attractive straight grain walnut pistol grip stock with a contrasting forend, multi point checkering, casehardened grip cap with trap, engraving and gold monogram "RJT", cheek piece, sling swivel eye, silver initial oval and solid recoil pad.

Near new as custom built and embellished with only light handling/storage marks overall.
