Manufactured in 1936. This is a nice example of a presentation Trap/Skeet Grade Model 21 shotgun with gold inlay. The sides of the action have a circled gold inlaid decorative intertwining "WRA". The trigger guard plate is inscribed "28 GAUGE/NATIONAL/PROFESSIONAL/SKEET/CHAMPIONSHIP/20 GAUGE/WON BY/COLONEL/W.F. SIEGMUND/SAN FRANCISCO, CAL/8-9-39" over a gold quail/clay pigeon. W.F. Siegmund was a Winchester/Olin executive and along with John Hessian was instrumental in the design of the Model 52 Sporter rifle. Both sets of barrels are 20 gauge, one is 28 inches in length and the other is 30 inches. Both have a single beaded blade front sight, (bead absent on both), multi-point checkered semi beavertail walnut forearm numbered to the gun, jeweled flats and ejectors are Winchester proofed and are numbered to the gun. The 28 inch set is choked WS-1/WS-1 with 2 3/4 inch chambers and the 30 inch set gauges at modified/modified with 3 inch chambers. The 2 3/4 on the left rear of the barrel has been struck out and "3 IN" added. Jeweled water table with three line made in U.S.A., model and address markings on the right side and three line patent marking on the left. Single trigger with selector, tang mounted manual safety and mounted with a multi-point checkered walnut straight grip stock with a leather recoil pad. Length of pull is 14 1/4 inches. Complete with a hard takedown case with brass hardware and gold embossed "COLONEL W. J. SIEGMUND" on the outside of the lid, green felt lining with Winchester Model 21 label affixed to the inside of the lid. In the case is a two piece wooden cleaning rod, bore mop, two plastic 20 gauge snap caps and two containers of Winchester gun oil. The case is accompanied with a nylon cover with leather trim made by the King Ranch Saddle Shop, (consignor notes).

Rating Definition:

Fine as custom rebuilt/refinished with 95% custom blue finish remaining on the 30 inch barrels and action. There is some thinning and wear on the muzzles and a couple of minor scratches on the barrels. Virtually all of the blue finish remains on the break lever, trigger guard plate and trigger guard. The 28 inch barrels retain 95% original blue finish with some muzzle wear, some wear from the forearm and a number of tiny dings on top at the breech. All of the gold inlay remains. The wood is very good overall with a number of light scratches and pressure dents on the stock, a few minor dings and handling marks on the forearms and crisp overall checkering. The inscription and markings are clear. The mechanics are fine. The case and cover are excellent.
