The slide has a Partridge type target rear sight that is adjustable for windage and elevation and a fixed ramp front sight. The main spring housing is correctly not fitted with a lanyard loop. The right side of the slide is roll stamped: "COLT" followed by "ACE" in an diamond and ".22 LONG/RIFLE". The left side of the slide is roll stamped with the two-line elongated Colt Hartford address above the 1897-1913 patent dates and followed by the Rampant Colt trademark. The right side of the frame is roll stamped with the serial number "6145" behind the slide stop hole and the assembly mark, "60" on the trigger guard bow. The left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with an "X" assembler's mark above the Colt "Triangle/VP" proof mark. The magazine floor plate is stamped: "COLT", "ACE" in a diamond and "22/LONG/RIFLE". Total production of the Colt Ace was 11,000 pistols manufactured between 1931 and 1941. The pistol is complete with the original royal blue cardboard carton. The pistol serial number "6145" is written in pencil on the bottom of the carton. The carton has a blue and white end label. Colt advertisements are stamped on the inside of the carton lid and bottom. The carton contains an original instruction sheet and a Colt "SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS" pamphlet.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The pistol retains 95% of the original commercial blue finish. There is some minor edge wear on the front of the slide and frame, some scuff marks on the sides of the trigger and some minor scratches and thinning on the grip strap. The grips are excellent with a few minor handling marks. The magazine is excellent and retains about 90% of the blue finish. The carton is in very good condition with wear on the edges of the lid and body. Two of the lid corners are broken. The end label is fine. The instruction sheet and pamphlet are very good. This is an excellent example of a Colt Ace .22 Automatic pistol with original serial numbered box and factory literature.
