Description:

In 1902 the Ordnance department purchased 4,600 Model 1902 revolvers in the serial number range of 43,401 to 48,097 with this revolver falling near the end of that range. The included Colt factory letter confirms the caliber, barrel length and finish with the type of stocks not listed. The revolver was shipped to the U.S. Government, Commanding Officer, Springfield Armory, Massachusetts, on December 26, 1902 as part of the 350 gun shipment. The barrel has the one line address on top and "45 COLT" on the left side. The frame has "RAC" inspector initials on the left side with the right having "U.S.", "1902", and "JTT" inspector initials. "RAC" is repeated on the trigger guard and rear cylinder face. Full serial number on butt and partial serial number on loading gate. Fitted with checkered Rampant Colt embossed grips.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The revolver retains 40% original blue finish with a smooth brown patina on the balance. Some light spotting is present on the ejector rod housing. The grips are also fine with some minor handling marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically fine.
