Manufactured in 1957 and subsequently engraved and gold inlaid by Master Engraver Weldon Bledsoe. Included with the revolvers is a signed handwritten note from Weldon Bledsoe on his letterhead which states "To Whom It May Concern The gold inlay work and engraving on the 2 Colt S.A. # 9851SA and 9852 SA were done by me." This matching pair of revolvers feature beautiful floral scroll engraving with a punch dot background on the barrel, ejector housing, frame, cylinder flats, back strap and trigger guard. There is a simple pattern in the cylinder flutes. There are three gold inlaid wire bands around the muzzle and breech of the barrel, three gold inlaid wire bands around the rear of the cylinder and a simple gold inlaid wire border on the frame sides. The recoil shield has a gold relief covered wagon being pulled by two oxen and the loading gate features a gold relief coiled rattle snake. Directly below the right side recoil shield is signed "WB". The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address, the left side is marked "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45" and the left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates followed by the Rampant Colt. All the markings are in decorative panels. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, on the left side of the grip straps under the grip and on the inside of each grip panel. The assembly number "694" is marked on the right rear of the frame and on the loading gate. Standard blade front and frame notch rear sights, blue finish with bright frame, and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top. The accompanying factory letter verifies the two as being shipped as a consecutively serial numbered pair, caliber, barrel length, blue finish with grips as "Not Listed" and that they were shipped to Liberty Army Store in Lawton, Oklahoma on February 4, 1957. The pair come in a wooden case with fitted red velvet lining.

Rating Definition:

Masterfully custom embellished with 99% blue finish remaining. The frame appears to have been deliberately polished at the time of engraving and is taking on a very attractive patina. The grips are excellent. The engraving is sharp and all of the gold inlay remains. The case is excellent with a few minor dings on the exterior and some minor contact wear on the lining.
