Description:

Developed in the period between the World Wars, the 1938 sub-machine gun was part of a complete overhaul of French small arms. Somewhat unorthodox in overall appearance, the 1938 was very light and compact by the standards of the era. As a result of a global financial depression and greater priority being given to things like the Maginot Line, the '38 was just entering full production when the Germans initiated Case Yellow. Accepted by the Germans as a secondary arm, the '38 would see use for both the Vichy and Free French Forces, and also be used by the Italians in the execution of Benito Mussolini. Fitted with a notched blade front sight and a set of 100 and 200 meter flip-up rear sights, with dust covers for the ejection port and magazine well, integral "flip-forward" trigger safety, a sling ring on the left side along with the markings "CAL, 7,65L MAS Mle 1938 F29863", smooth pistol grip and hardwood stock with matching number and steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 97% plus of the phosphate finish overall, showing a few bright spots along the high edges and around the lanyard ring, and scattered handling marks overall. The stock is very good, with some dents and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
