Description:

This is an exceptional example of an original WWII Model 1928A1 Thompson submachine gun that was manufactured by the Auto-Ordnance Company. This weapon was originally manufactured as a late model 1928A1 under a US Government contract that was subsequently refurbished by the US Army after WWII. This specific weapon has been fitted with many of the later wartime features that are highly desirable and so easily recognized in the WWII movies such as; short 10 1/2 inch, non-finned barrel with ported "CUTTS" marked compensator on the end, the wartime horizontal forend, detachable buttstock and non-adjustable Lyman stamped "L" pattern rear sight. The receiver is marked with "US MODEL OF 1928 A1/NO. A.O. 101383" and farther back "THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN/CALIBER .45 AUTOMATIC CARTRIDGE. The obverse is marked in two-lines "AUTO-ORDNANCE CORPORATION, BRIDGEPORT CONNECTICUT USA" The top of the receiver is marked with the "Thompson Bullet" logo and the underside of the lower trigger group is numbered "No.S-467214". The upper right side of the buttstock, has the correct "A.A" Augusta Arsenal rebuild proof stamp. Documentation with this machine gun shows it was sent to the Anniston Ordnance Depot in February of 1961. This desirable Thompson SMG is complete with one blue 30 round stick magazine with an original KERR no-buckle canvas sling.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 95% of the arsenal refurbished parkerized finish overall with edge and high spot wear from handling and light firing. The wood components are all very fine with 90% of the arsenal refurbished oil finish with only minor handling marks. This is a very nice looking all original WWII type Thompson SMG. NOTE: This item is restricted as a National Firearms Act (NFA), Fully Automatic Weapon that is currently registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (BATF&E) that has been classified as a "Curio or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11.
