Description:

Manufactured in 1863 with a three screw frame cut for a shoulder stock. The barrel has the one line New York address and "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side of the frame. Small single letter inspection marks on most of the major components. The complete matching serial number is on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, back strap, the matching partial number "3690" is marked on the cylinder pin, and the wedge and cylinder are mismatched. The cylinder has the Texas naval battle scene. Fitted with a smooth grip with a faint boxed cartouche on the right side.

Rating Definition:

Good. The metal surfaces have a smooth brown and gray patina. The trigger guard retains traces of age darkened silver plating. The cylinder scene is partially visible. The grip is fair with a small chip on each toe and the right heel, and a number of small gouges, dents and scratches. One frame screw and the wedge screw are replacements. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
