This is a beautiful example of one of the recent production (1995-2000) Ballard single shot target rifles as manufactured by the Cody-Ballard Rifle Company in Wyoming. These were faithful recreation of the original Ballard-Marlin target rifles manufactured in the early 1900s, only made from modern steels with beautiful case colored actions. This beautiful example has the heavy off-hand action with rebated sides and double set triggers with the pistol grip frame. It has been fitted with a heavy number 4 weight half octagon target barrel chambered in the popular 40-65 cartridge. The stock is a select grade (AAA) of American walnut with a small cheek piece on the right hand sides, a small early Swiss double-prong buttplate and a matching walnut forearm with the ebony forend tip. Both the stock and forearm have been beautifully hand checkered in the pistol grip area and underside of the forearm and palm rest base assembly. The rifle has been fitted with a long range adjustable target rear sight with a fixed target globe front sight with spirit-level behind the sight. The rebated receiver is marked "BALLARD RIFLE & CARTRIDGE/Co. LLC. CODY WYOMING".

Excellent with 99% of the rust blue finish on the barrel and 99% of the casehardened finish on the receiver, breechblock, lever and buttplate. The stock and forend are also excellent showing beautiful full figured wood grain pattern.
