According to the included factory letter, this revolver was part of a 20-piece shipment to the Simmons Hardware Company of St. Louis, Missouri on June 22, 1897, in 44/40 caliber with a 4 3/4 inch barrel, blue finish and "Not Listed" grips. Blade front and notch rear sights, with the stamped Frontier legend on the left side of the barrel, two-line Hartford address on top, two-line patent dates on the frame next to the circled Rampant Colt, matching numbers on the frame and grip straps and "499" on the loading gate. With a one piece checkered hardwood grip.

Good as refinished, with traces of the blue finish, showing an artificial mixed brown and gray patina overall, scattered dings and handling marks. Grips are fair as hand checkered replacements, with some chips and dents. Mechanically fine.
