Description:

The entire contents of the lot sit within a brass reinforced hardwood case, 17 1/2 inches long, 3 inches tall and 6 1/2 inches wide, with a brass shield on the lid marked "INSTRUMENTS/(broad arrow)/OPERATION" and a shield shaped keyhole escutcheon on the front. Opening the lid reveals a pair of bone plaques marked "HENRY LEWIS" and "LONDON" on either side of the "IMPROVED/LONDON" marked key plate, with the interior lined in purple. Inside the lid are a set of 12 nickel finished steel clamps, with a lift-out interior tray and a series of compartments in the bottom holding a variety of surgical tools, including a number of scalpels, 2 debriders, a hand saw, and others. The tools bear markings from a number of different London and Sheffield surgical equipment dealers, with several also bearing the British Army "broad arrow" stamp.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall, with some mild scuffs and dents on the exterior of the case, and some mild spotting and flaking on the individual tools.
