Description:

Measuring 24 inches overall, with a 17 1/8" blade showing a straight hamon and installed in a brass habaki. Darkened brass tsuba, with a raised gold accented wave design on top, and an elaborate gold accented scene of a warrior on a boat preparing to fight a monster emerging from the water, as well as brass and gilt seppa. Blackened brass fuchi and kashira with gold accents, a deep blue cord wrap and gold accented copper menuki in the shape of a seated figure. The tang has been shortened, with a partial mekugi-ana visible at the base and a 2-symbol signature on the left side. With a black lacquer saya.

Rating Definition:

Very good overall. Some minor spotting is present on the blade, with a few tiny chips in the hamon and some dark spots on the sides. The upper gilt seppa is absent, with a cardboard spacer in it's place to eliminate play in the components, and the tsuba is excellent, with attractive designs. The wrap shows appropriate darkening and wear, with some separation of the underlying rayskin. The saya is fair, with the kojiri absent, a thin crack extending from the vacant kogatana slot, and scattered chipping and handling marks on the varnish.
