Description:

Manufactured by Springfield Armory in 1889. The rifle has the standard blue finish with casehardened barrel tang and low arch breechblock. Equipped with a Buffington folding leaf rear sight adjustable for elevation and windage with an "R" (rifle) stamped on the sight leaf. The eagle with "U.S./SPRINGFIELD" marked lock has a three click tumbler. The rear of the barrel has "V/P/eagle head/P," "A" and "R" inspection markings. The oil finished stock has a "SWP/1889" cartouche on the left side of the wrist and a circled script "P" behind the trigger guard finial. A U.S. bayonet accompanies the rifle.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The rifle retains 85% original blue finish with a smooth brown patina on the balance. The barrel tang and breechblock retain 95% plus original vivid case colors. Some minor spotting is present. The stock is excellent with some scattered minor pressure dents. The cartouche is sharp. Mechanically fine.
