Also known as the Hotchkiss Magazine Gun, this example was manufactured in 1889. Blade front sight and "R" marked Buffington rear sight, with the two-line New Haven address on top of the barrel between the bands, "-Model of 1883-" on the upper tang, and the three line Winchester/Hotchkiss patent dates on the lower tang. The receiver is finely casehardened, with a bright bolt and blue magazine switches on either side. Smooth straight wrist stock, with 2 barrel bands, a slotted ramrod head, "6" on the underside of the buttstock and a smooth casehardened buttplate.

Extremely fine, with 95% of the original blue finish, showing the start of a brown patina and scattered light handling marks. A gray patina is forming on the magazine switches. 90% vivid case colors are present on the receiver, with some fading on the high edges and buttplate. Stock is very fine, with exception of chipping around the lower tang, scattered dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
