Description:

Remington manufactured approximately 7,000 of these sporting rifles. Marked "REMINGTON ARMS Co. ILION. N.Y. U.S.A." on top of the left receiver rail followed by the serial number, "PATENTED AUG. 26th 1884, MARCH 17th 1885, JAN. 18th 1887." on the left side of the receiver and the one line address on top of the barrel ahead of the rear sight. The underside of the barrel ahead of the forearm is marked "30-30". German silver blade front and adjustable buck horn rear sights. All blue finish and mounted with a one-piece walnut half stock with an ebony insert in the schnabel forend with grasping grooves and multi-point checkered round knob pistol grip with a casehardened carbine style iron buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The rifle retains 90% original blue finish with some thinning to smooth plum and gray patina on the barrel and edge wear. The stock is fine as refinished with a few minor dings and crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
