Description:

This is an exceptional example of a Stoeger Commercial Contract DWM/Mauser American Eagle Luger Model 06/34 pistol with the full A.F. Stoeger frame and barrel extension markings. These American Eagle Lugers were the very first Stoeger Lugers made expressly by DWM under contract for the Stoeger Arms Company in New York, for import into the United States. Although it is estimated that fewer than 1,000 of this model were manufactured, making them very rare today especially in this original high end condition. The chamber is marked with the American Eagle crest with the DWM logo on the front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension is marked "GERMANY" next to "A.F. STOEGER, INC./NEW YORK.". The right side frame rail is correctly roll stamped in small letters "GENUINE" next to "LUGER-REGISTERED U.S. PATENT OFFICE". It is correctly marked "SAFE" and "LOADED" in the safety area and extractor respectively for this variation. The pistol is stamped in the commercial serial number fashion with the front of the frame stamped with the full serial number "460v". The underside of the barrel is stamped "460" with most of the various smaller parts (side plate, left side of the breechblock, underside of the toggle assembly, takedown lever and trigger), stamped with the last two digits; "60", with no other parts being numbered. The underside of the barrel is stamped with a small single "Crown/U" commercial proof and the left side of the barrel extension is stamped with the "Crown/N" commercial proof. It is complete with one early nickel plated magazine with the Swiss pattern, unmarked wooden base. The pistol has an attractive original blue finish with straw colored small components and checkered walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% of the blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear with spotting on the grip straps. The grips are also excellent with nice distinct sharp checkering on both sides. Mechanically excellent. An exceptional, totally original example of a scarce A.F. Stoeger marked Mauser American Eagle Luger pistol.
