Description:

This is a solid representative example of a DWM Model 1914 Artillery Luger that was manufactured in 1915. The pistol has the distinctive 8-inch barrel with tangent rear sight and stock lug on the grip strap. The magazine is plated and has a wooden bottom numbered to another gun. The rear sight features a nine position adjustments graduated to 800 meters. The front toggle link is marked with the DWM script monogram and the chamber is dated "1915". The full serial number "6591/a" is located on the front of the frame, with "6591"marked on the underside of the barrel, and left side of the barrel extension. The various small parts are stamped with the partial serial number "91". The safety and extractor are marked "GESICHERT and GELADEN". The Imperial eagle is marked on the right rear of the barrel and on the right side of the barrel extension with three crown over Gothic letter proofs. Complete with an original walnut board shoulder stock, with Imperial proof and original attaching iron with a brown leather holster with shoulder strap and cleaning rod. The inside flap of the holster is marked "SCHAXXXBERGER/Nurnberg/1915".

Rating Definition:

Very good with 60% of the blue finish remaining overall with wear and blue loss on the edges and high spots, mixed with brown patina on the grip straps. The replacement grips are in very good condition with a very nice distinctive albeit larger/coarser checkered pattern. Mechanically excellent. The walnut stock is in fine condition with minor handling marks on one side with a very distinctive Imperial proof. The attaching iron retains 60% of the blue finish mixed with some brown patina. The holster is also in very fine condition with a very nice dark brown color overall with tight stitching and clear distinct markings on the inside of the flap. The boot and lower strap show minor age cracking and the shoulder strap is in good condition, showing wear across the face of the leather. The Luger pistol itself has matching numbers except the magazine, grips and the attaching iron on the stock as noted above. A nice honest complete artillery Luger rig.
