Description:

This is an exceptional example of an original very early commercial Walther PP pistol that is in like new condition and is complete with an original Walther box and accessories. Originally the Walther model PP pistols were introduced by Fritz Walther in 1929. The generally accepted serial number of regular production pistols started at 750,000. The serial number of 756,794 on this pistol would indicate that it was probably manufactured in late 1929 or early 1930. For this early of a Walther pistol the condition is magnificent in that it appears to be like new with probably only being test fired. The left side of the slide is marked with the Walther banner followed by "Waffenfabrik Walther, Zella-Mehlis (Thur)/ Walthers Patent Cal. 7,65m/m" and "Mod PP". The right side of the frame, slide and barrel muzzle are marked with single "crown/N" proof and the serial number "756794" is marked in front of the grip panel and the last three digits of the serial number are scratched into the inside of the slide. It has the rare early large hole ring hammer with the 90 degree safety. Fitted with a set of rare special order early mottled brown checkered plastic two piece grips and has two blue magazines. The magazine in the pistol has the early black finger extension base plate that is correctly marked with the Walther Banner on the left side of the magazine body. The spare magazine is marked the same way with just the standard blue flat base plate. This pistol is complete with an original unnumbered pre-war Walther brown "woodgrain" box that has the embossed markings on the lid that consist of the Walther Banner in the upper right hand corner, "PP" in the lower left hand corner with a picture of a Walther PP pistol in the center. The top of the lid has a small red and white label that simply reads "mit Signalstift" (with Signal-Pin). It is also complete with an original small Walther cleaning kit/tin box that contains a small yellow cleaning cloth, a horse-hair cleaning brush with an early aluminum oil bottle that has a small cork top. It also includes one steel early 1st style cleaning rod and rare takedown tool, three nickel plated dummy cartridges, and an original first series red/yellow Walther PP pistol manual. The front of the manual reads "Die Neuen/Walther/PP u. PPK Polizei-Pistolen". The manual itself has approximately 12 pages that shows the assembly and disassembly, exploded parts view etc. all in German. As one can see, the manual were meant to be folded to fit one box. This was a Walther method on all versions of manuals until about 1935.

Rating Definition:

Near new with some loss of finish on the safety lever and overall only the slightest handling/storage marks. The box is excellent with only some light edge wear and some flaking on the lid label. Very rare condition for any Walther box. The accessories are all excellent. An exceptional example of an original very early pre-war Walther with box.
