An assembled Mauser byf/44 Code P38 without a serial number and an "ac" coded armorer's replacement frame. The slide is marked "P.38" followed by "byf/44" on left and the right side has an "Eagle/WaA135" proof and a firing proof. The left frame side has an "Eagle/359" proof and "ac." The left side of the barrel lug has an "Eagle/WaA135" proof. Ribbed grips and magazine marked "jvd/P.38" with an "Eagle/WaA" proof above "jvd" on the spine.

Very fine. The barrel and slide retain 97% original blue finish with a faint plum patina. The frame retains 97% original blue finish which has taken on a purple hue. Front sight is missing and minor pitting is present on the barrel. The grips are excellent with a few minor handling marks.

This P38 has a blank slide and has Mauser "Eagle/135" proofs. Ribbed grips and "P.38v" marked magazine with an "Eagle/135" proof on the spine. Visible numbers are matching. Early production Mauser P38s, like this example, have been observed without maker markings on the slide and noted P38 expert W. Buxton has concluded that "these pistols were very unusual subvariations of Mauser P38s."

Very good. The pistol retains 70% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown-gray patina. The grips are excellent with a few minor handling marks.
