Description:

This is an example of a 1920s reworked DWM Model 1900 Commercial Luger pistol. These pistols were the true first commercial contract Luger pistols manufactured by DWM and can be found in the 2,000-19,000 serial number range, with this specific pistol being a later production pistol. These 1920 rework pistols were specifically intended for sales in the U.S. market, which is why "GERMANY" is marked on the front of frame under the serial number. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel, the toggle is marked with the "DWM" monogram and the pistol is absent of any proof marks. Dished toggles with toggle lock on the right side, recessed breechblock, 4 3/4 inch fast tapered barrel, grip safety and no stock lug. This specific pistol is not fitted with the later hold-open device. The lower safety area is unmarked and left with the bright polished. They had superb hand fitted parts with the pre-war high polish rust blue finish with the straw colored small parts, unmarked plated magazine with a wooden base and fitted with checkered walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Very good as refurbished overall with 90% dull blue finish remaining showing some muzzle and edge wear, some minor pitting under the finish (mainly on the grip straps), and some mild thinning on the grip safety and front strap. The numbers have been restruck over the added "GERMANY" mark. 70% of the straw color remains on the small parts. The grips are fine with some minor wear, bruising and crisp checkering. Mechanically fine.
