Description:

This is a exceptional all original, unaltered and matching late 1944 Japanese Nambu rig. These were the standard WWII Japanese Army sidearm used by all NCO and officers. This pistol has the Showa date of 19.2 (Feb 1944) and includes two matching magazines and an earlier Nambu leather holster. This pistol has the large trigger guard introduced in 1940, two-piece mahogany grip panels with 17 grooves, finely knurled cocking knob and two blue magazines with alloy bases and cast grooves. Both magazines are stamped on the spine with the partial serial number "264". The pistol and all the various parts have the wartime salt blue finish. The right side of the receiver is stamped with the Nagoya Arsenal symbol, the Nambu kanji and the Kokumbungi factory mark, followed by the serial number "16264". The partial serial number "264" is also on the trigger and the top of the bolt. All of the visible serial numbers match. The pistol is complete with an original WWII leather clamshell holster which contains an original cleaning rod.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% of the original wartime blue finish with wear on the edges and high spots, with slight dulling/browning on the grip strap. The grips are excellent with nice sharp/distinct grooves and minor handling marks. The holster is very good with very nice leather surface, darkening with age and oiling with tight stitching overall, except for a small corner of the stitching for the hinge of the holster flap. A nice example of a scarce all matching late WWII Japanese Nambu Type 14 pistol rig.
