This is an example of an early Walther "HP" P-38 pistol that was pressed into service as a Wehrmacht purchased commercial pistol. These pistols were purchased by the Wehrmacht in limited quantities in early WWII. The left side of the slide has the standard Walther Banner followed by the two line factory address/legend and "Mod. HP." The right side of the slide has an "Eagle/359" Wehrmacht proof and a commercial "Eagle/N" proof. It has the standard serial number stamped on the right side of the frame, front of barrel lug and on top of the right slide rail, but also it has been panagraphed on the right of the slide, directly below the ejection port. It has the standard wartime brown plastic grips with the factory mold marks on the back side but no Waffenamt proofs or serial numbers. It is complete with one standard early all blue magazine that is marked with a "Eagle/359" proof on the spine.

Very fine as importer/arsenal refurbished with 95% of the blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear overall. The grips are also very fine with handling marks and light nicks on both sides. As noted this early P38 has all matching numbers except the magazine.
